Accounts Payable Association

greenwellgleeson are proud to be working in partnership with the newly launched Accounts Payable Association:

The Accounts Payable Association (APA) is a UK based organisation representing the interests of the estimated 250,000 professionals working the in AP industry, in the UK alone. The APA is committed to the professional advancement of individuals within the Accounts Payable discipline and also closely related financial roles.

The APA acts as a support group where like-minded AP professionals can obtain information on new technologies, procedures and trends whilst obtaining critical benchmarking statistics on other organisations. The overall aim of the APA is to provide members with an abundance of support, tools, data and information that they need in their day to day work, whilst also helping to plan their career in the “World of Accounts Payable”.

Get accredited with the UK’s first Accounts Payable qualification through their courses over 3 levels – Induction, Technician & Manager. For more information on the AP Association, visit http://www.ap-association.co.uk/

And Finally…

Golf

In April, Managing Director Rob Lawton was fortunate enough to get away for a long weekend golfing holiday in Portugal organised by his absolute sporting hero; Wolverhampton Wanderers FC record goal scorer Steve Bull.

Over 50 people joined Steve raising funds for his own charity The Steve Bull Foundation. Rob is seen pictured (at the top) with his 3 playing partners & Steve on the iconic Par 3 16th, Royal Course, Vale do Lobo. Unfortunately the picture preceded a horrendous hook, leaving his little Titleist friend sleeping with the fishes of the Atlantic.

The Steve Bull foundation provides Charitable support in the form of grants to organisations primarily in the Black Country and the West Midlands which specialise in assisting young people, the disabled, the homeless, the sick and the disadvantaged.

Everyone here at GG wishes Steve and everyone working in his foundation all the very best in the great work they do!

Football

The climax of the most amazing Barclay’s Premier League season in history bought contrasting fortunes and a rollercoaster of emotions for the staff here at greenwellgleeson. Leicester born Associate Director Steve Rai is still living the dream after his beloved Leicester City FC were crowned Champions. This most unlikely of triumphs has sent shockwaves through the sporting world, whilst Steve is still shell-shocked himself!

He will be looking to his boss to let him leave early for the victory parade, where Steve can return to Leicester for maybe the third time in his life!

By contrast, our Transactional consultant Barry Sheldon is a lifelong Aston Villa fan – [insert comedy-value story here]. Enduring a torturous season on the pitch, Barry’s beloved Villa have been the source of a regular mocking from fellow colleagues – credit to Barry, he’s still maintaining that they’re the biggest club to be relegated. Other big clubs in the argument include Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Derby County (remember that season?!)…who can forget the mighty Portsmouth FC…

So as Steve looks forward to Champions League football next year, welcoming the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich to the King Power fortress, Barry will have to settle for Burton Albion away on a cold Tuesday night – eat your heart out Jamie Vardy #HavingAParty
