The new government has pledged to end the “culture of presenteeism” in Britain’s workplaces, saying that a default right of flexible working will make staff more productive and loyal. Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary, vows to end ‘culture of presenteeism’ to make workers more ‘motivated and resilient’.
With this in mind, Greenwell Gleeson are excited to announce that we have now left our offices in Birmingham City Centre and are implicating a tried and tested formula, enabling our experienced staff a flexible work from home approach.
The shift towards more flexible working arrangements has been evolving over the last few years, predominantly influenced by the Covid pandemic and it showed that flexibility was in fact possible in many more industries than we thought and worked extremely successfully for most. We found that not only were there obvious benefits for our employees, but also huge advantages for our clients, who had also adopted the same approach.
Increased productivity
We have found that a better work-life balance increases productivity as many remote workers are more effective than in traditional office settings with constant distractions and interruptions. By scheduling their work around the hours they’re most productive, our employees can execute tasks more effectively and produce higher quality work. All of our staff are experienced consultants with an average of 15 years working for us, they know what our company requires and what drives our results based business.
Reduced commute
By eliminating the need for a daily commute, our employees can save time and money whilst reducing stress, leading to a healthier work-life balance. This enhanced well-being increases the productivity of our team, meaning that they can start their workday feeling more energised and focused. This extra time and mental clarity can be channelled into creative thinking, problem-solving and delivering higher-quality work for our clients. We feel our team will be able to offer more time speaking to clients and candidates, therefore not only maintaining our high access to services, but also improving the quality of them.
Technology and communication
Our team has spent years fine-tuning our communications strategy and is constantly investigating new tools to ensure we’re making the most of our tech. This means that our communication within the team and with our clients is streamlined, and everyone is connected in real time, regardless of location. Through leveraging these advanced digital tools, we can more easily maintain regular touchpoints with clients, ensuring that updates, feedback and strategic discussions can happen smoothly and frequently.
With our extensive IT systems in place, our employees can work collaboratively on projects with instant messaging and video conferencing offering a high level of communication to staff and clients alike, whilst still attending physical client and candidate meetings as required.
Physical team meetings
We realise and appreciate the importance of our staff and the benefits that face-to-face team meetings bring and continue to look forward to hosting these on a weekly basis. We understand that businesses are built on relationships, and these meetings are still a critical component of building a strong team culture, developing rapport and connecting with people on a deeper level.
We meet on a weekly basis at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield and sometimes combine the business side of the day with a social activity. We look forward to embracing our new work model and working on a national scale with no location restrictions.
